A CONCEPTUAL STUDY OF TRIPHALA GUGGULU ON UTKARTANA

ABSTRACT
Sutika Paricharya or regimen for the puerperal state mentioned in our classics is specifically designed regimen for restoring the health of the women after the exhausting and laborious process of vaginal delivery. Yoni Prasarana for the ease of normal delivery explained in our classics can be achieved through medicaments or surgical procedures like Utkartana Karma. It is performed almost as routine in cases of vaginal delivery to cut short the 2nd stage of labour and to prevent irregular tears. The wound formed after an utkartana is associated with immense pain, discomfort and seeks appropriate medical care and attention. Different treatment modalities have been told in Ayurveda
for Vrana management. Drugs having Shodhana and Ropana qualities are essential for healing. Triphala Guggulu is one among such drugs having vrana shodhana and vrana ropana property which are helpful in healing utkartana. Hence in present paper role of same has been discussed in utkartana healing.
