ABSTRACT
The study of the human body in Ayurveda and Yoga opens up an entirely different paradigm from that of contemporary medicine. The intricacies of the human body are conceived in the form of various tatwa and symbolized, codified and made into abstract mystical language for giving it a proper structural framework and to lay out a path of clear-cut understanding with a specific hierarchy. The material to causal structural assembly of the human body is described using words, symbols, actions and in many other forms which are described from gross number of bones, muscles etc. to sublte Marma, Nadi,
Prana etc. to even subtler Manas, Citta, Ahamkara and finally to the all-pervading Self. This hierarchy forms the fundamental and core concept of Vedic anatomy. This paper tries to explore these concepts in terms of their practical application in medical science.
