ABSTRACT
Epilepsy is still haunting human kind for its complexity in terms of symptoms and treatment options available currently. Epilepsy prevalance is still very high and limited cure is available. Sulfonamide derivatives are developing as one of the most important antiepileptic drug class. Aromatic and heterocyclic fused nucleus with sulfonamides are proved to be potent carbonic anhydrase inhibitors an important target in epilepsy. In this particular work we are trying to compile all the significant recent developments made in last 15 years along with in-vivo, in-vitro and in-silico data available. Molecular modeling
developments in sulfonamide derivatives have also been included.
Keywords: Epilepsy, Anticonvulsant, Sulfonamides.
