ABSTRACT
Introduction: Cardiovascular changes that occur with induction of anesthesia, have made this anesthesia phase sensitive and risky. The aim of this study was to compare hemodynamic changes in the methods of midazolam - fentanyl and propofol - fentanyl sedation in patients undergoing surgery for ovarian puncture. Method: This randomized clinical trial was conducted between 2015 and 2016 on 56 infertile women referring to the obstetric operating room of Imam Khomeini genral hospital of Ahvaz, Iran. 28 patients were randomly divided into two groups , (A) propofol, (B) midazolam. Group A was sedated with 1 mg/kg of propofol and 1μg/kg of fentanyl and Group B with 0.05 mg/kg of midazolam and 1 μg/kg of fentanyl with nitrous oxide and oxygen mask with 4 liters per minute flow. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen
saturation were evaluated before induction and 3, 5 and every five minutes after induction till exiting from recovery room,. All data analysis was performed using Repeated Measures ANOVA through the software SPSS20. Findings: According our study two groups were the same in varibility of age, height, weight and, systolic blood pressure, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation in both groups were not significantly different (p>0.05). Diastolic blood pressure in the minutes before the operation and exiting the recovery room, heart rate before and 5 minutes after the operation and entering the recovery room in the propofol group were significantly less than midazolam group (p
