ABSTRACT
Research on Adverse drug reactions can increase our understanding about any response to a drug which is noxious and unintended which occur at normal doses of a drug used in human beings for therapy, diagnosis. Adverse drug reactions are considered as one among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality which can affect most organ system. Several contributing factors for adverse drug reactions are polypharmacy, age, dose and duration. It describe about drugs that are most frequently showing adverse drug reactions during the hospital stay and also explain about the organ systems mostly effected due to adverse drug reaction of drug. During the study period total 1127 patients were screened in the hospital out of which 109 patients encountered adverse drug reaction. In this one hundred nine patients (16) 14.67% were reported by spontaneous method, (93) 83.5% were by chart review. This study show about age distribution of patients who encountered adverse drug reaction out of 109 patients 65 adverse drug reaction in age group of 31-60 and gender distribution shows that male (55) 51% majorly affected. Majority of patients show Type A (80) 73% type of adverse drug reaction. Severity of adverse drug reaction show that mostly moderate (72) 67%. Seventy eight patients 70% are probably preventable at the study site. Majorly effected organ or system due to adverse drug reaction is dermatological (30) 27%. Therapeutic drug classes implicated in adverse drug reaction are majorly antibiotics (39) 35%, followed by antiepileptic (12) 10%. Out of 109 cases 43.31% were recovered.
