IN VITRO ANTIFUNGAL ACTIVITY OF METHANOLIC EXTRACT OF CARDIOSPERMUMCANESCENSWALL.-A WILD MEDICINAL PLANT

ABSTRACT
Cardiospermum canescens known as the balloon plant mostly
available in the wild. It is used in the Indian folk medicine for the
treatment of wound healing and infectious diseases. The present study
was used for detect the methanolic extract of C. canescens was tested
for antifungal activity. It was investigated for their in vitro antifungal
properties by agar disc diffusion methodagainst five fungal strains. All
tested microorganisms showed dose dependent susceptibility towards
the methanol extracts. The antifungal activity of the extract and
standard drugs were statistically significant. Based on the present study
it can be concluded that the plant possess potent antifungal activity.
