IDENTIFICATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SIX NEW TAXA OF GENUS AGARICUS L.:FR. (AGARICACEAE CHEVALL.) FROM INDIA.

ABSTRACT

As a result of extensive surveys to various habitats of Punjab for the collection of Agaricus. The species were worked out, characterized and identified. A thorough survey of literature for identification and comparison of the taxa was done. The study reveals six taxa new to science, viz. A. punjabensis sp. nov. and A. patialensis sp. nov. new species while A. porphyrocephala var. cheilocystidiatus var. nov., A. campestris var. pleurocystidatus var. nov., A. abruptibulbus var. nullicystidiata var. nov. and A. cupreobrunneus var. microsporus var. nov. are new varieties. A detailed account of these new taxa along critical comparison with allied taxa is discussed in this paper.
