A PROSPECTIVE STUDY ON DRUG UTILIZATION PATTERN OF GLUCOCORTICOIDS IN PULMONOLOGY DEPARTMENT IN A TERTIARY CARE TEACHING HOSPITAL

ABSTRACT
Corticosteroids are introduced in late 1950. They are wildly accepted by health care professional for its anti- inflammatory qualities and some profound clinical results. Examples of CS are Prednisolone, fluticasone, betaethasone, hydrocortisone, etc. corticosteroids being in the mainstay in the management of various disease like Asthma, autoimmune disorder, dermatosis like eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatosis, allergy, nephritic syndrome, cluster headache etc. But now days widely used pulmonology department. Inclusion criteria of in our study Inpatients and outpatients who will be prescribed with Glucocorticoids under the department of Pulmonology, Patients with age above 18 years who will be under Glucocorticoid therapy, Inpatients and outpatients of other departments who will be reported to have adverse effects as a result of using glucocorticoids in the above department. Exclusion criteria of in our study was Patients who are unwilling to participate and will not come for follow up, Pregnant women and lactating mothers are excluded Patient with Pre- existing Diabetes, Hypertension Hypothyroidism, Osteoporosis, Myopathy, Peptic ulcer, Metabolic and Endocrine Disorders Cataract, Glaucoma, Psychiatric Problems, IBD. We are selected 90 cases and done by age wise distribution, drug interaction checking, commonly prescribed steroid, Reporting ADR.
