SIMULTANEOUS EQUATION METHOD FOR THE ESTIMATION OF CEFPODOXIME PROXETIL AND LEVOFLOXACIN HEMIHYDRATE IN THEIR COMBINED TABLET DOSAGE FORM BY UV- VISIBLE SPECTROPHOTOMETRY

ABSTRACT
A new UV spectrophotometric simultaneous equation method was developed and validated for the estimation of Cefpodoxime Proxetil (cefpo) Levofloxacin Hemihydrate (levo) in pure and pharmaceutical dosage form. Cefpo shows λmax at 263.6nm and levo shows at λmax 294nm in mixture of methanol and 0.1N HCl. The developed method was found to show linearity in concentration (conc.) range of 1-12 μg/ml for cefpo and levo with the value of correlation coefficient (R2) 0.998 and 0.999 respectively. The percent Relative Standard Deviation (% RSD) of inter and intra-day precision studies were found to be
within limits of NMT 2% concluding that the present method is precise as per ICH guidelines Q2 (R1)[1]. The developed method can be used for routine estimation of cefpo and levo in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form.
