EVALUATION OF ANTI-UROLITHIATIC ACTIVITY OF SYZYGIUM CUMINI L. PLANT AGAINST ETHYLENE GLYCOL INDUCED UROLITHIASIS IN ALBINO RATS

ABSTRACT
The kidney stone is one of the most widely spreading renal disorders in the world. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the efficacy of Syzygium Cumini L. in reducing the growth of calcium oxalate stones in ethylene glycol induced model. Upon administration of Furosemide (20mg/kg), alcoholic extract of flower of Syzygium Cumini L. (200 and 400mg/kg) on hyperoxaluria rats shows the significant activity in decrease kidney stones and serum, urine levels (calcium, phosphorous, creatinine, urea) which however are not that as standard drug Furosemide.
