LINKING DRUG ACTION WITH PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE

ABSTRACT
Background: Alzheimer’s disease has been characterised and the etiopathology unravelled new concept and aspect that were hitherto unknown. Areas of focus: drug therapy of Alzheimer’s disease has undergone a radical change with the incoming of hordes of drugs with novel mechanism. Common drugs included are Disease Modifying drugs (anti-amyloid agents, tau based therapy, glial cell modulators), Anti-oxidants etc. Despite the availability, efficacy and safety remains to be seen. Conclusion: Despite, a wide variety of drugs available for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease the efficacy, Quality Of Life and safety is still suboptimal.
