AUC UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF CEFPODOXIME PROXETIL AND LEVEFLOXACIN HEMIHYDRATE IN MULTI COMPONENT PHARMACEUTICALS

ABSTRACT
A UV spectrophotometric area under curve methods was developed for the estimation of Cefpodoxime proxetil and Leveofloxacin hemihydrate in their multi component tablets. The spectrophotometric technique for the simultaneous estimation employed Area under curve method for analysis using methanol and dilute Sodium Hydroxide as solvent respectively for the drugs Cefpodoxime proxetil at absorption maximum 235nm and area under 230nm to 240nm and Levofloxacin hemihydrate at absorption maximum 270nm and area under 280nm to 290nm. Cefpodoxime proxetil and Levofloxacin hemihydrate obeys Beer’s law in concentration range 10-50μg/ml respectively. The recovery studies ascertained accuracy of the proposed method; result
validated as per ICH guideline. The result of analysis has been validated statistically by recovery studies. The method was successfully carried out for simultaneous evaluation of Cefpodoxime proxetil and Levofloxacin hemihydrate in tablet dosage form without the obstruction of common excipients.
