STUDY ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PREECLAMPSIA AND PLACENTA ABRUPTION IN AL-KHOMS, LIBYA

ABSTRACT
Preeclampsia and Placental abruption are more interrelated in the complication of pregnancy. Various factors cause preeclampsia and preeclampsia is directly associated with placental abruption and lead risk for both mother and baby. Aim of this study is to find the risk of PE and relationship between preeclampsia (PE) and placental abruption (PA). A retrospective study was undergone in the labour ward at Al-khoms teaching hospital, Al-khoms, Libya from 2004 to 2005. 178 cases were included in the study. Data were collected and confirmed by clinical evidences and all the blood and urine analysis were done in the central laboratory of the Al-khoms teaching hospital, Al-khoms, Libya. Platelets count, Blood pressure (severe) and A+ blood group show a positive correlation with the Preeclampsia
placental abruption. There is a correlation between PE and PA is observed through the present study. To reduce the risk of PE and increase the health of mother and foetus, periodic check up and proper education or counselling to the people are necessary.
