ANTECEDENTS OF LIVER CIRRHOSIS AND HEPATITIS-C LEADING TO HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

ABSTRACT
The main objective of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate etiology of hepatocellular carcinoma, to evaluate latest medical trends in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma and to prevent the occurrence of liver cancer in future. A questionnaire was developed and data was collected from various hospitals of Lahore, Pakistan. There were 102 patients were included in the study having hepatocellular carcinoma with history of Hepatitis-C or liver cirrhosis. Data was analyzed statistically using statistically designed software.
This study concludes major factors that lead to the hepatocellular carcinoma that include hepatitis C, other factors that also contribute in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma are Hepatitis B, Diabetes mellitus, cirrhosis, chronic liver disease, obesity and alcohol consumption.
