Abstract

Q-ABSORBANCE RATIO METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF TEMOZOLOMIDE AND CAPECITABINE IN SYNTHETIC MIXTURE

Patel Pooja B.* and Patel Paresh U.

ABSTRACT

The present manuscript describe simple, sensitive, rapid, accurate, precise and economical Q-absorbance ratio method for the simultaneous determination of Temozolomide and Capecitabine in synthetic mixture. Absorbance ratio method uses the ratio of absorbances at two selected wavelengths, one which is an isoabsorptive point of two drugs and other being the λ-max of one of the two drugs. Temozolomide and Capecitabine show an isoabsorptive point at 249 nm in double distilled water. The second wavelength used is 240 nm, which is the λ-max of Capecitabine in double distilled water. The linearity was achieved in the concentration range of 2-20 μg/ml for both Temozolomide and Capecitabine. The concentrations of the drugs were determined by using ratio of absorbances at isoabsorptive point and at the wavelength maxima of capecitabine. From results of recovery studies it can be concluded that there are no interferences from the excipients. The method was found to be simple, sensitive, accurate and precise. So, it can be applicable for the simultaneous determination of Temozolomide and Capecitabine in synthetic mixture. The results of analysis have been validated statistically and by recovery studies.
