Classical mode of aplication of lepa guti involves preparation of mixture in water and heating at the time of application, which might be a hurdle in assurance of controlled and desired clinical effects. To overcome this and in view of palatability, standard operating procedure of its application, dosage form of lepa guti was modified to gel, ointment and cream. The crude material was procured from the Pharmacy, Gujarat Ayurved university and the excipients were bought from
Manakarnika Ayushadhalaya, Pune, India. Pharmaceutical study was done at the department of rasa shastra and bhaishjya kalpana and Analysis of formulations was done in accordance of standard strategies. Gel form was observed as superior over lepa guti, cream and ointment in terms of spreadibility, percentage yield, ease in method of preparation. All modified dosage forms were found to be more palatable than classical lepa guti. Comprative pharmacological and or clinical studies will only proove the superiority of modified dosage forms.
