ABSTRACT
Pregnancy is a time of growth and hope (Schroeder 1996). The union of a single egg and sperm marks the beginning of a pregnancy. Pregnancy is not only a biological event but also an adaptive process. This period is a time of physical and psychological preparation for birth and parenthood. Pregnant women perceive this period of happiness in anticipation of motherhood. Aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of music therapy on anxiety among primigravidae with high risk pregnancy at selected Hospital, Tamilnadu. Methods and Materials: Quasi experimental design. Samples 60 Primigravidae with high risk pregnancy having mild and
moderate level of anxiety. Findings were the Anxiety level among primigravidae significantly reduce in study group with a reduction score of STATE mean at 7.97 with standard deviation of 5.91; among the mothers in the control group the mean reduction score is 2.60 with standard deviation of 8.07. In the study group the TRAIT mean score was13.87 with the standard deviation of 7.65 and in the control group the mean reduction score was 0.47 with the standard deviation 2.62.
