INHALANTS INDUCED PSYCHOSIS: A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT Inhalants use is predominantly seen in children and adolescents and it is becoming a matter of public health concern in countries all over the world, including India. Inhalants abuse involves the use of volatile solvents which reach brain quickly from pulmonary circulation and produce euphoria and intoxication rapidly. Inhalants intoxication involves many physical and psychological problems like impaired judgment, apathy, dizziness, visual disturbances, incoordination, lethargy, stupor or coma. We report a 20-year old case who presented with symptoms of psychosis and responded completely to antipsychotic drugs. Keywords: Inhalants, Intoxication, Psychosis.
