“CLINICAL EVALUATION OF VIRECHAN KARMA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF VICHARCHIKA (ECZEMA)”

ABSTRACT

Skin is the largest protective organ of the body. A healthy skin is the mirror image of a good health. To treat the various skin disorders, Vicharchika is commonest clinical entity found in daily routine dermatological practice. Kushtha includes wide spectra of skin diseases, among them Vicharchika (Eczema) was selected for present study. Vicharchika can be correlated with Eczema in modern science on the basis of similarity in symptomatology. Due to its chronic and recurrent nature, it has a great impact on the quality of life of the patients. In this study, 15 patients of Vicharchika were given Virechana by Triphala, Trivruta, Danti. All patients were assessed with Shamana drug of Gandhaka Rasayana – 5 gm/day in divided dose for a month after Shodhana Karma. The effect of the therapy on the cardinal signs & symptoms of the disease were remarkable. It was concluded that Virechan Karma along with Shaman drug has a significant effect in the management of Vicharchika.
