Abstract

ANALYTICAL METHOD DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION FOR SIMULTANEOUS ESTIMATION OF IVERMECTIN AND FENBENDAZOLE IN BULK DOSAGE FORM BY RP-HPLC

Pradeep S.* and Dr. Chandrashekar Javali

ABSTRACT

The present manuscript describes a new simple, specific, precise and accurate reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method for the simultaneous determination of Ivermectin and Fenbendazole in bulk dosage forms. The estimation was carried out by using Qualisil BDS C18 (250×4.6 mm, 5μm) column with mobile phase containing Acetonitrile: Methanol:Phosphate buffer in the ratio of 50:20:30 and buffer PH was maintained at 4.5 adjusted with 0.01M Orthophosphoric acid, which is pumped at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/ min. The injection volume was 20 μl and detection was monitored at 254 nm. The peaks obtained were sharp with retention times of Ivermectin and Fenbendazole were 4.0 min and 6.3 min respectively. The calibration curves were linear (R2 = 0.999) over the concentration from 10-50 μg/ml for Ivermectin and Fenbendazole respectively. The % recoveries of Ivermectin and Fenbendazole were found to be in the range of 99.13% and 99.44% respectively. The proposed method was validated and successfully applied to the estimation of Ivermectin and Fenbendazole in combined bulk dosage forms.

Keywords: Ivermectin, Fenbendazole, Simultaneous estimation, RP-HPLC.
