ABSTRACT
In this present study preliminary phytochemical investigation was done
and free radical scavenging activity of methanolic leaves extract of D.
regia were determined by using in vitro assay model of DPPH free
radical scavenging activity. Ascorbic acid is used as reference
standard. Flavonoid is confirmed in the extract. The extract has shown
better scavenging effect and antioxidant property at higher doses when
compared with standard ascorbic acid. Further investigations are
needed in terms of isolation and confirmation of antioxidant effect of
specific compounds leading to a possibility of being useful in the
modern medicine in future.
