ABSTRACT
Fast dissolving tablets are dissolved/disintegrate without water within
few second to few minutes. Aceclofenac, a non-steroid anti
inflammatory drug used for pain and inflammation and was selected
as the model drug. Dispersible tablets of aceclofenac were prepared
using natural substance mango peel pectin(MPP) as disintegrant in
different concentration and also prepared using standard
superdisintegrant crospovidone(CPD) by direct compression
technique. The prepared powder blend was evaluated for various
parameters like bulk density, tapped density, angle of repose,
compressibility index and Hausner ratio. Formulations of MPP were
evaluated for hardness, friability, wetting time, disintegration time, In
vitro dissolution study and were compared with CPD. The study
reveals that MPP can not be used as promising superdisintegrant, but
due to its good solubility in biological fluid and better swelling index,
it can be used to prepare fast dispersible tablets.
