SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF NOVEL SERIES OF 5-METHOXY-2,3-DIPHENYL-1-(5-SUBSTITUTED PHENYL -4,5 DIHYDROPYRAZOLYL)- INDOLES

ABSTRACT
Heterocyclic compounds 5-methoxy-2,3-diphenyl-1-(5- substitutedphenyl -4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-1H-indole (4a-4d) scheme(II) were synthesized by cyclization of chalcones 1-(5- methoxy-2,3-diphenyl-1H-indol-1-yl)-3-substitutedphenyl prop-2-en- 1-one (3a-3d) scheme (I) of indole with phenyl hydrazine in presence of base NaOH. All the synthesized compounds have been characterized by elemental (C,H,N) and spectral (I.R., 1H- NMR) analysis. Furthermore, The antibacterial activity of compounds (3a-d) and (4ad) was tested against bacterial Klebsiella pneumoniae, Esherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumonia. Screened derivatives explored mild to moderate antibacterial inhibition.
