ABSTRACT
This study is mainly based on the literary and clinical type of study.
This study mainly includes the conceptual study of Nidra from
Brihattrayi and evaluation of Gudapippalimulayoga in Anidra. The
references of Nidra are scattered in the Brihattrayi in the view of
Adharniya Vega, Anidra, Atinidra and its role as a Hetu, Lakshana and
Aushadha. Considering the importance of Anidra in life, Acharya
Bhela has also designed a separate chapter on Nidra named as
“NidranirupanaAdhyaya”. Amongst these, thethe topic is mainly
focused on Anidra for the clinical study. Also it is very important that,
the daily activities depend on the Prakrit Nidra and are reflected
through daily routine of awakening etc. But in today‟s era, it is
observed that Anidra (Insomnia) has become a serious health problem.
Anidra has spread up very widely. WHO has also stated that at least one third of the people of
the world suffer from sleep disorders and also it has a great impact on social, occupational
and other functioning areas of the individual. Hence, for this clinical study,
Gudapippalimulayoga, a reference of VangasenaSamhita was used in Anidra. The contents of
Gudapippalimulayoga are root of Pippali and jaggery (Guda) which are used in the
combination as a medicine. Thus this literary and clinical study is selected so that one can
further design a better regimen regarding this important aspect of life.
