Abstract

THE CONCEPT OF MANAS IN AYURVEDA WSR TO MANOVIKARA (MENTAL DISEASES)

Dr. Pankaj Kumar Jain*

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda was probably the first science that dealt with the two parts of life i.e. the Somatic and the psychic parts as the Shareera & Manas respectively. The manas is the link between the knowledge perceived and the tools/senses. The health of the psyche is as important as the physical soma. Both of them complement each other in health and disease. Thus, it becomes mandatory to understand and review this very important aspect of health comprehensively. Here a sincere effort has been made to understand the manas in all its might and have a detailed review on the applied aspect of manas. The philosophical science of Yoga also aims at the methods to control the activity of the mind.

Keywords: Shareera, Manas, Yoga, Health, Disease.
