ABSTRACT
Elastography is an imaging technique where elasticity of tissue is
determined non-invasively to differentiate between normal and
diseased tissue. Among different types of elastography like Ultrasound
Elastography and Magnetic Resonance Elastography, Ultrasound
Elastography is widely use technique. Abnormal tissue deform to
lesser extent than normal tissue after compression. Images are taken
before and after the compression. Elastogram is one where different
shades of colours are use to represent the tissue elasticity. Elastography
is used from mid- 1990s. It is better alternative for the biopsy which is
an invasive procedure. Present article covers an overview of the
different forms and clinical applications of Elastography.
Keywords: Elastography, elasticity, compression, displacement.
