ABSTRACT
Aim: Antibiotics for diabetic foot and foot infections must be chosen according to interpretation of antibiograms and adverse effects of antibiotics must be well-known. Here, we aim to focus on leukopenia which developed at a patient who presented with diabetic food and administered tigecycline. Case presentation: Sixty three year-old male patient who applied to our clinics with diabetic foot had grade 2 foot infection according to Wagner Grading System. He was administered tigecycline according to his antibiogram. He developed leukopenia at follow-up. There was no other condition to explain the occasion. Leukopenia was reversed after tigecycline treatment was ceased. Conclusion: Knowing the adverse effects of antibiotics chosen for treatment of diabetic foot infection is as important as choosing the appropriate antibiotic according to antibiograms.
Keywords: Diabetes, diabetic foot infection, tigecycline.
