INSECTICIDE ACTIVITY STUDY OF ESSENTIAL OILS OF DAUCUS CAROTA (L.) SSP. CAROTA (APIACEAE) AND CHENOPODIUM AMBROSIOÏDES (L.) (CHENOPODIACEAE) ON WHITE LARVAE OF MELOLONTHA MELOLONTHA

ABSTRACT For the purpose of searching natural alternative products as insecticide and with limited risks for the environment, essential oils extracted from Daucus carota (L.) ssp. carota and Chenopodium ambrosioïdes (L.) have been tested on white larvae of Melolontha melolontha. This work contains two essays: The first has been achieved in petri boxes where larvae have been in contact with different oil concentrations of Daucus carota (L.) ssp. carota and Chenopodium ambrosioïdes (L.). The second has been achieved on the basis of the results of the first essay so as only concentrations which have good results tested in pots containing soil issued from their natural milieu before the extrapolated in a field infested avocado. During all the period of exposure time LC50 and LC99 doses have been determined as well as the lethal time, required for the death of 50% (LT50) and 99% (LT99) of white larvae exposed to different essential oil concentrations. We notice that essential oil of Chenopodium ambrosioïdes (L.) leads to a very significant insecticide effect on Melolontha melolontha larvae rather than on Daucus carota (L.) ssp. carota. Keywords: Essential oil, Daucus carota (L.) ssp. carota, Chenopodium ambrosioïdes (L.), Melolontha melolontha, botanic insecticide, Morocco, Meknes. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
