ABSTRACT
Procaine mainly acts as a sodium channel blocker and also acting as a long pharmacological agent in the life sciences and in clinical therapeutic studies and used as an anesthetic drug. Synthesis of a series of novel sulfonamide and carbamate derivatives of Procaine 1, was accomplished by reacting 1 with various substituted sulfonylcholorides and chloroformates in the presence of triethylamine in THF at 50ºC. Their structures were established by IR, 1H, 13C-NMR, mass spectral data and elemental analysis. Their in vitro antimicrobial activity was evaluated and the title compounds 3a, 3d, 5a and 5e exhibited good antimicrobial activity.
