ABSTRACT
The new protocol has been developed for the synthesis of highly functionalized piperidines using Bismuth (III) bromide as a catalyst, using three component combination of ß-ketoester with various aryl aldehydes and substituted aryl amines in ethanol at 80oC. The reaction proceeded in short period of time with high yields using low toxicity bismuth compound.
Keywords: Bismuth (III) bromide (BiBr3), Functionalized piperidines, ß-ketoester, aryl aldehydes and aryl amines.
