ASSESSMENT THE FREQUENCY OF COMMON MUTATIONS IN CODONS 12 AND 13 OF THE K-RAS2 GENE IN PATIENTS WITH COLORECTAL CANCER IN THE POPULATION OF THE CITY OF TABRIZ, IRAN
Parisa Ghahvechi* and Ali Nazirzadeh
ABSTRACT
Colorectal cancer is the most common cancer of the digestive tract,
known in America and Europe. The cancer in Iranian men, women in
the third and fourth most common cancer is. Gene codon 12 and 13
mutations in K-Ras 2 gene are considered hot spots. Somatic mutations
in codons 12 and 13 of exon 1 gene K-Ras2 protein synthesis is
activated Ras, in 20-50% of human colorectal cancers are found. In
this study, 64 samples of tumor tissue and normal tissue around the
tumor using Sequencing-PCR, for codons 12 and 13 genes were
examined K-Ras2. % 23/7 patients, point mutations in codon 12 and
13, respectively (3 mutation at codon 13 mutations in codons 12 and
13). 80% of the mutations in codon 12 had occurred. 60% of the
mutations in the colon, rectum and 40% of the mutations had occurred.
Mucinous adenocarcinoma of the lower 80% of the mutations in there. Most mutations were
observed at ages older than 56 years. Given the low frequency of this mutation in codons 12
and 13 genes K-Ras2 in Tabriz city's population, compared to some other communities, other
exons of this gene should also be checked.
Keywords: colorectal cancer, gene K-Ras2, mutations.
