ABSTRACT
Hyoscine HCl is novel anti-cholinergic and anti-spasmodic drug is currently approved by many countries for the treatment of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and stomach cramps). Hyoscine HCl is used to relieve urinary and bladder difficulties by decreasing muscle spasms of the bladder. Hyoscine HCl gel was prepared by dispersion method to overcome the oral drug delivery system of the drug. Total 10 formulations of topical gel were prepared using carbopol 940 and with permeation enhancers polyethylene glycol, isopropyl alcohol, glycerin, isopropyl myristate were studied to see the permeation enhancement. all formulation were evaluated for clarity, pH, Homogeneity, spreadability, viscosity measurement, assay and invitro permeation study combination of Hyoscine HCl,
carbopol 940 with PEG 400 provides better and more rapid improvement in patients with good effects as compared with single carbopol 940 based gel. Invitro release studies were performed using franz diffusion cell. Kinetic analysis were done to find the kinetics of drug release.
Keywords: Hyoscine HCl, Isopropyl alcohol, carbopol940, PEG400, Isopropyl mystriate, Franz diffusion cell.
