ABSTRACT
Conventional oral drug products are formulated to release the active pharmaceutical principle immediately after oral administration to obtain rapid and systemic absorption. RDTs are designed to disintegrate rapidly on contact with saliva and enable oral administration without water or chewing. Diclofenac is a NSAID (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) which is generally taken to reduce inflammation and as an analgesic which is used to reduce pain in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis etc. In addition they can also circumvent the sticky feeling in the mouth associated with oral gels. In this study an attempt has been made to formulate a dosage form of diclofenac sodium as a model drug using superdisintegrant sodium starch glycolate to show that this superdisintegrant in 10% concentration will show better disintegrating property than its other formulation in 5% concentration.
