ABSTRACT
Studies were carried out to investigate and evaluate the larvicidal and pupicidal activity of Vitex negundo L. extract against Aedes aegypti under various concentrations at laboratory conditions. The 50 ppm plant extract exhibited the larval mortality of about 77.80% in the 1st instar larvae and it was reduced to 57.17%, 37.95% and 27.61% in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th instar respectively. The pupal mortality in the case of Aedes aegypti was ranging from 37.95% to 89.65% after having treated with 50 to 300 ppm over the period of 24h. The present study evident that the, larval ages were the significant factor for determined larval mortality and the results suggests that the methanol extraxt of Vitex negundo L. have the potential as larvicidal and pupicidal agent against Aedes aegypti.
