Of total prescription, the major prescription was for Pantoprazole (74%) and in 50% of the prescription PPIs was given by oral route and in remaining by parenteral route and combination of both oral and parenteral. The most prescribed brand was APAN-40(PANTOPRAZOLE) in 29 prescriptions and 61 % of patients were prescribed with PPIs along with NSAID/Antibiotics. The major drug interaction was found with the use of PPIs along with Clopidogrel, whereas with other drugs studied interaction was moderate. The study found use of PPIs in wide range of indications.
