APPLICATION OF NINHYDRIN FOR SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF ARMODAFINIL, PRAMIPEXOLE AND TERAZOSIN IN PHARMACEUTICALS

ABSTRACT
A simple, specific and fast spectrophotometric procedure has been developed for the determination of armodafinil, Pramipexole and Terazosin . The method is based on the interaction of ninhydrin with primary amines present in the drugs. This reaction produces a blue coloured product which absorbed maximally at 595 nm. The effects of variables such as reagent concentration and reaction time were investigated to optimize the procedure. Beer’s law was obeyed in the concentration range of 50 -500μg ml-1 , 10-120 μg ml-1 and 50-500 μg ml-1 for Armodafinil, Pramipexole and Terazosin respectively. The results were validated statistically. The proposed method has been applied to the determination of Armodafinil, Pramipexole and Terazosin in tablets with satisfactory results.
