TO INCREASE THE AWARENESS OF ANEMIA AMONG THE PREGNANT WOMEN

ABSTRACT
Background: Anemia in pregnancy is mostly caused by lack of iron. Since the pregnant women carry another’s life in their body, they are considered need more iron than usual for carrying the oxygen and other nutrition to the baby. Pregnant women often become anaemic because the demand of iron and other vitamins is increased. The mother must increase her production of red blood cells and in addition, the fetus and placenta need their own supply of iron which can only be obtained from the mother. Objective: To study the importance of iron during pregnancy; To increase the awareness of iron deficiency in pregnant women; To identify the risk factor, symptoms, side effects, adverse effects of anemia in pregnancy; To study the adequate amount of iron that pregnant women should take and to improve their eating habit. Survey Questionnaire: The survey was carried out in the
around Asia Metropolitan University, in local area around Econsave, local area around Seremban, and local area of Masjid India. All this survey is done around in area of Selangor. Result and discussion: Research has verified that 86.7% of among pregnant women in Kolar district aware that Anemia during pregnancy is due to lack of iron in blood. They tend to take adequate food that contains enough iron, supplement and medication as recommended by the doctor. Conclusion: Most of pregnant women aware that lack of iron during pregnancy is dangerous.
