ABSTRACT
Titanium (IV) and Nickel (II) complex of N (benzylidene) 1- amino-2- naphthol-4-sulphonic acid was synthesized from the ligand N (benzylidene) 1- amino-2- naphthol-4-sulphonic acid with Titanium (IV) dioxide and Nickel (II) Chloride under proper condition. Freshly prepared ligand N (benzylidene)1- amino-2- naphthol-4-sulphonic Acid (3.73g, 0.02 mol) Titanium dioxide (3.99g, 0.01 mol), Nickel Chloride (3.99g, 0.01 mol), ethanol (20 ml), 2drops of acetic acid were refluxed in a steam bath for about six hours using water condenser. A
light violet precipitate of Titanium (IV) and Nickel (II) complex of N (benzylidene) 1- amino-2- naphthol-4-sulphonic acid was obtained. The disc diffusion method was used to screen the antimicrobial activity. Presence of phenyl ring in a compound are excited to show aromatic (C-H) stretch in the region 1861-1920 cm-1. The appearance of two bands with value 2044 cm-1 is due to stretching vibration. Analysis of the complex reveals that all the ligands showed greater activity against E. faecalis and S.typhi, complexes showed its greater activity against Lactobacillus and S.typhi.
