ABSTRACT
Aims and Objectives: To compare the effects of epidosin injection by different routes in reducing the duration of first and second stages of labour. Material and Methods: Study was carried out on pregnant ladies (without any complications) admitted for delivery in department of Gynecology B.R.D. Medical College Gorakhpur. The ladies were divided in to three groups. Group A received saline, group B received epidosin intramuscularly while group III received epidosin intravenously and outcomes of delivery were observed. Results: The duration of first stage of labour in intramuscular and intravenous groups were reduced significantly as compared to the control group. The reduction in intravenous group is more as compared to intramuscular group. The mean duration of second stage of labour was not changed in all the groups. It was 45.5, 45.1, 45.4 minutes in group I, II, and III respectively. Conclusion: The mean duration of first stage of labour is reduced by injection of epidosin. The reduction is more significant when epidosin is injected by intravenous route as compared to intramuscular route.
