Shandhira Une Krishnan* and Sudhakar
ABSTRACT
Diabetes mellitus is characterized by condition known as hyperglycemia which could be controlled through medication and insulin. Due to the advancement in technology researcher is developing a more convenient and desired route of drug delivery which can help to avoid the pain caused by injection normally by subcutaneous injection, psychological barriers due to multiple injection and infections. It’s a big challenge for the drug delivery to develop an oral delivery of insulin as needless for the treatment of diabetes. A high bioavailability of the drug is necessary to produce the desired action so various
challenges have been overcome like using penetration enhancer, enzyme inhibitor, and carrier system. Besides that chemical modification, hydrogels, and bioadhesive system have been use to improve the bioavalability of insulin. Each any every technique may its pro and cons over one another.
