ABSTRACT
In the present study, an investigation is conducted to ascertain the use ofDermatoglyphic approach as a tool to diagnose the myopic condition. For this study, the sample population studied was from different parts of Bangalore and the age group of the population in the study was between 18-25 years. The study was conducted with 100 Individuals, amongst which 50 individuals were non myopic (control) and other 50 individuals were known myopic cases (test). The palm prints and finger prints of both the hands were collected from control and test groups, further the recorded data were analyzed. The results indicated that there was variations or shift in the ‘C’ point in the test group, whereas no ‘C’ shift was observed in control population. These results would aid in consolidating the use of Dermatoglyphics as bio-indicator to diagnose myopic conditions before the onset of myopia.
