SEROPREVALENCE OF HELICOBACTER PYLORI INFECTION AMONG 4TH CLASS STUDENTS OF BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT/ COLLEGE OF SCIENCE/AL- MUSTANSIRIYA UNIVERSITY

ABSTRACT
Background: Although the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) appears to be decreasing in many parts of the world, it remains an important factor linked to the development of peptic ulcer disease, acute and chronic gastritis, gastric cancer and dyspeptic symptoms and lymphoma in the third world countries. Aim Of Study: Detecting the seroprevalence of H. pylori infection among 4th class students of biology department Materials And Methods:The study was performed on 45 students (19 females – 26 males) for the period from December the 1st, 2014 to march 31, 2015. Anti-H.pylori antibodies (IgG, IgA, IgM) was detected by H.pylori antibody combo rapid test/ CTK BIOTECH/USA. Results: Among the 45 examined cases H.
pylori was detected in 8 cases (17.77%), 5 female and 3 male. Conclusions: The research findings indicate a positive association between infected females and males and a fast food habit.
