ABSTRACT
Simple, sensitive and accurate methods for determination of four drugs viz., Imatinib Mesylate, Dextrometharphan HBr, CitalopramHBr and Amlodipinebesilate based on their reactivity towards N- bromo succinimide (NBS). The method involves the addition of excess NBS of known concentration in the presence of 0.5M HCl, reactants are allowed to react and the unreacted NBS is estimated by the measurement in the decrease in the absorbance of the Indigocaramine Dye (λmax 610nm). The methods have been validated in terms of LOD, LOQ, precision accuracy, %RSD, robustness and ruggedness. The calibration curves are found useful for determination of pure drug and can be applied to pharmaceuticals in bulk drug and pharmaceutical industries. This method has been applied for the determination of drugs in their pure form as well as in tablet formulations. The method has been validated in terms of guidelines of ICH.
