ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to analyse the primary phytochemical screening of Hedychium maximum (family-Zinziberaceae). Plant shows medicinal properties as it content phytochemical constituents and are the basis of many of the modern pharmaceutical drugs we used day-to-day life for various ailments. Phytochemical constituents are non-nutritive plant chemical that have properties of prevention and treatment of diseases. The primary phytochemical study of different extract, (petroleum ether, acetone, chloroform, methanol and distilled water) were analysed for our study. Methanol extract gave more number of phytochemicals among the various solvent uses for our studies. The rhizomes of hedychium maximum yielded 2.2, 10, 1, 2.4
and 2.7 % crude extract of petroleum ether, acetone, chloroform, methanol and distilled water respectively. Presence of phytochemical constituents shows the disease preventive properties of the plants.
