ABSTRACT
Assessment of the body weight and survival time in DLA induced mice treated with methanolic extract of roots of Coleus forskohlii showed a reduction in body weight by 24.4 percent, compared to DLA control mice and a significant increase in life span to 22.5 percent. The chloroform fraction of the methanolic extract inhibited the cell proliferation of DLA cell lines with IC50 of 13.5μg/ml. In MTT assay the percentage cell viability of DLA cells against the Coleus forskohlii extract showed that the percentage of viable cells is reduced to 49.21% at 5 μg concentration and is further reduced as the concentration of the extract increases and the percentage of viable DLA cells is only 13.54% at 40 μg concentrations, indicating the toxicity of the extract towards the DLA cells.
