ABSTRACT
Chenopodium album (Chenopodiaceae) is also known as Bathu (Hindi). Chenopodium album has a wide range of pharmacological values and has been used to treat the ulcer, skin-diseases, nociceptive and hepato-protective, helminthic, and pruritic. The preliminary phytochemical studies reveal that the extract contains carbohydrate, saponin, alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, phenols and steroids. From toxicity study, dose of hydrolcoholic extract does not produce adverse effect up to 1000 mg/kg. The current review presents the advancement in clinical investigation of Phytochemistry with traditional uses, pharmacology values and moreover toxicology of Chenopodium album. Finally, future point of view for this plant is discussed, too.
