ABSTRACT
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) leaves were screened for the presence of chemically active compound by standard methods. Photochemical studies revealed that the presences of highly steroids in all genotype of fenugreek leaves. Genotype JFG.256 recorded the higher amount of flavonoids, cardiac glycoside, and phenol content whereas, lower moisture content. Terpenoids and tannin was not detected from any genotype of fenugreek leaves. The results of present investigations revealed that genotype PEB was registered with the highest amount of true protein, crude protein, chlorophyll “b”, total chlorophyll and total carotenoid, while maximum relative water content was observed in genotype JFG.226. In case of total antioxidantactivity content was recorded higher in Kasturi methi. Genotype JFG.263 and JFG.250 recorded higher total carbohydrates and non-reducing sugars, respectively. The maximum total soluble sugars and reducing sugars were observed in JFG.234.
