ABSTRACT
Aim: The present study involves evaluation of the antiulcer activity of the polyherbal formulation (PHF) containing the extracts of amla(Emblicaofficinalis) fruitsandtulsi(Ocimum sanctum) leaves, andneem(Azadirachtaindica) leaves in male wistar rats. Methods: The antiulcer activity of the polyherbal formulation (PHF) was evaluated using ethanol induced gastric ulcer model. Efficacy was assessed by determining the ulcer index and percent ulcer protection profile. Ranitidine was used in standard treatment groups. Results: Administration of the polyherbal formulation (500 mg/kg, peroral.) offered significant protection against ethanol-induced ulcer model. Conclusion: The tested PHF, was found to possess significant antiulcer activity in ethanol induced ulcer model. The mixture of extracts and the developed tablet formulation showed good antiulcer activity.
