RE-USABLE NANO Fe3O4 CATALYSTS FOR HIGH YIELD SYNTHESIS OF 1,5-BENZODIAZEPINE DERIVATIVES EITHER IN SOLUTION NOR UNDER SOLVENT-FREE CONDITIONS

ABSTRACT

Re-usable nano Fe3O4 catalyzes efficiently, the condensation of ophenylenediaminewith various ketones either in solution nor undersolvent-free conditions to afford the corresponding 1,5-benzodiazepinederivatives in good to excellent yields (<99%). The catalyst wasmagnetically separated and reused three times without significant lossof catalytic activity. Mild reaction conditions, clean reaction media,simple workup and easy purification are advantages of thismethodology. All the title compounds were confirmed from theirelemental analysis, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and Mass Spectral data.
