ABSTRACT
Amongst the plethora of avenues explored for rapid drug releasing products, Oral Strip Technology is gaining much attention. Rapid dissolving oral films are solid dosage forms, which disintegrate or dissolve within 1 min when placed in the mouth without drinking water or chewing. On the basis of this novelty many patents are available in the US country. These drug delivery systems allow the medication to bypass the first pass metabolism thereby making the medication more bioavailable. Oral film a type of film which is used in acute condition such as pain, antiemetic, anti-migraine, antihypertension, congestive heart failure, and Asthma etc. Formulation of oral thin films involve the application of both aesthetic and performance characteristic such as water soluble polymer, plasticized hydrocolloid, active pharmaceutical ingredient, and taste masking agent etc. Oral strips are evaluated for various attributes such as thickness, folding endurance, surface pH disintegration stability study and dissolution time and etc.
